Big Cool Cats Music Festival announced
at Cain Park on June 20, 2009

Cleveland Heights, Ohio Three veteran entrepreneurs have joined with the City of Cleveland Heights to present the first annual Big Cool Cats Music Festival at the sylvan Evans Amphitheater at Cain Park from noon to 11PM on June 20, 2009. Featuring six bands on the Mainstage and 3 solo artists on the Colonnade acoustic stage, Big Cool Cats Music Festival will explore the diversity of World, Ethnic and Roots music offered by some of the finest musicians in North America. Cain Park is located at 14591 Superior Road at Lee Road in Cleveland Heights, Ohio 44118. http://www.BigCoolCats.com

Big Cool Cats Music Festival was created in the Spring of 2009 as a collaboration between three terminally hip artists in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Steve Presser (left) couldn't get enough excitement running the best toy store in town, Big Fun on Coventry Road, the coolest street in Cleveland Heights. He kept thinking that what we needed was the coolest-ever music fest, but no one else was doing it.

He bought a cup of decaf for his friend Denis Devito (right) who writes songs, plays guitar & buttonbox accordion and sings for the band Cats On Holiday, and they started talking about creating a roots/fusion/world music festival to showcase some of the hottest talent in the region.

They texted their buddy Thomas Mulready (center), who isn't busy enough sending out the weekly CoolCleveland.com e-blast to practically everyone in town. What the three of them came up with, in collaboration with the fine folks at Cain Park and the City of Cleveland Heights, is a day-long music fest to soothe the soul, rattle the rafters and get concertgoers baying at the moon.

Concertgoers are encouraged to enjoy the unique ambiance of the Cain Park Evans Amphitheater at an all-day music fest specially designed to showcase the hottest and most diverse array of musical styles in the region. With influences ranging from Afro-pop to Jamaican reggae to New Orleans Zydeco and Swamp Pop, to traditional folk and jazz, to the classic rock of the Lakewood Project, the musical artists featured at the Big Cool Cats Music Festival will trace the roots of American music, while forging a new path into the future.

About Cain Park Built in 1938, Cain Park begins where most city parks leave off: a large outdoor covered amphitheater (Evans Amphitheater); an outdoor, intimate, covered theater similar to a mid-sized off-Broadway space (Alma Theater); an air-conditioned art gallery (Audrey & Harvey Feinberg Art Gallery), and outstanding programming that includes professional theatrical productions, a nationally recognized Arts Festival, cabaret series, professional dance companies, children's programming, and concerts featuring national, regional, and local performers, surrounded by 22 acres of bicycle and jogging paths, tennis and basketball courts, a wading pool, playground, skate park, and picnic areas. There are over 900 free on-street parking spaces within an easy walk of Cain Park. While a concession area serves beer, wine, coffee and snacks, guests are invited to bring coolers with a picnic for enjoyment on the Evans Amphitheater lawn. Please do not bring glass, pets, candles, firearms, cameras or recording devices.
